Dental Bridges and Crowns In North York

Dental bridges and dental crowns are an effective means to help dentists repair or replace teeth for our patients who suffer from dental problems.

We may advise you to get a dental crown if any of the following has damaged your tooth:

  • Fractures
  • Cracks
  • Decay
  • Large fillings
  • Root canal complications

Crowns are used to create a natural-looking appearance for your front teeth. A bridge is another option we may recommend to replace a missing tooth and repair your smile. Contact us today to know if crowns or bridges will be suitable for your needs.

Placement of crowns

Before your crown is created and can be placed on your tooth, our dentists will proceed with the following steps:

  1. Shaping your tooth to make more space in your mouth to fit the crown
  2. Taking an impression of your teeth to create the crown
  3. Fitting you for a protective, temporary resin crown
  4. Cleaning your tooth at a second visit after removing the temporary
  5. Securing the permanent acrylic crown in its place

Crowns and bridges are known for having long life spans, but it is essential to care for them as you would the rest of your teeth.

We always encourage our patients to practice good oral hygiene—including brushing, flossing, a healthy diet, and avoiding sticky and hard foods.

Types of dental bridges

We may use three primary types of bridges at Leslie Smile Solutions, depending on your unique situation.

  • Fixed bridges – Used to fill the space between two crowns to replace a missing tooth
  • Resin-bonded bridges – Normally used on healthy front teeth
  • Cantilever bridges –  Used when there is space on only one side

Please call or email our North York dental office and schedule a consultation if you think a bridge or crown may be the right answer for your teeth.
